Burning Man

Location: Nevada, USA
Overview

Falling firmly into our ‘LABS’ project category – where we intentionally diverge from the conventions of typical business operations – the Burning Man project allowed us to immerse ourselves in the experimental realm in the format of a design competition.

THE COMPETITION

At the OWL University of Applied Sciences, our dedication to research and education led us to actively participate in a design competition for the annual Burning Man Festival in Nevada, USA. We collaborated with a group of students from the “Master of Computational Design and Construction” (MCDC) program and together we proudly emerged victorious in the competition.

OUR WINNING STRUCTURE

The structure takes a dome-like form, meticulously crafted through an algorithmically generated construction process. The spiked panels, a distinctive feature of the design, were precision-engineered using CNC machining technology. This intersection of computational design, construction innovation, and advanced manufacturing techniques showcases our commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural exploration and education.
